bulb inquiry

Last week, divisions 8, 9, 10 and 11 each planted (in water) a flowering bulb. They made observations of the bulbs by zooming in and looking closely at it, including using magnifying glasses! They thought the bulb looked like an onion and noticed that it was shiny and brown but the stems were white with green at the top. They're not sure exactly what kind of flower they are growing and had all sorts of wonder questions about tall would it grow? what colour will the flower be? what does the bulb look like inside?

This is what the bulbs looked like on the day we planted them:

One week later, the students were surprised how much the stems and roots had grown.

I wonder what they will look like next week?
