General Library Information

At the Blair Library, students are able to choose from a vast selection of information books, reference materials, novels, picture books and audio book CDs. We also have two Kobo ereaders available for students to use during silent reading time in their classrooms and our class set of iPads has several ebooks loaded on them.

The Blair library is a shared place for literacy and inquiry and will hopefully inspire a love of reading and thinking!

Hours  (2012-2013)
The library is open to students at 8:30am on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays as well as afterschool on those days until 3:30pm. Ms Novakowski has meetings many Tuesday mornings before school and may not be in the library at this time. Each division at Blair has a 45-minute block of time each week in the library for literacy and inquiry lessons and library book exchange. There are also open exchange blocks on Monday and Wednesday afternoons at 2:37-3:00  if students want to exchange their library books.

Circulation
•Students are allowed to check out up to four books at a time (Kindergarten students start out taking one or two books for the first part of the school year)
•Library books are checked out for one week
•Books may be renewed providing the book has not been requested by other students
•When necessary, more than four books may be checked out for class research

Overdues
•There are no overdue charges for library books at Blair. While a student has overdue books, only one new book will be allowed to be checked out until all overdue books are returned.

Damaged or Lost Books
•If a book is lost or significantly damaged, students will be required to pay the replacement cost of the book or donate a similar book to the library.

Library Monitors
Students in grades 4, 5, 6 and 7 are able to help out in the library by checking in books using our computer system, shelving books, organizing materials and labeling new books.

Thank you to the Blair community for your ongoing support of our library program!
